Raison D’etre – “Reason for
Being”
Three women who know their reason for being are coming to share
their pure Kentucky blend (as in vocal.) RAISON D'ETRE, the
award-winning folk trio from Northern Kentucky, will add a little
jive to your java as they perform original tunes, a cappella swing,
and covers of song writers like Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Jesse
Winchester, and Dolly Parton. Their sound has been described by
CITYBEAT as "some of the best three-part harmony singing you'll
likely ever hear." Violet Rae, Vickie and Roberta back themselves on
guitar, banjo, keyboard, and six-string mandolin for an evening of
swinging country folk.

of classic rock, and occasionally slip in an original song. Their
sound features tight harmonic vocals over a lush bed of acoustic
guitar and keyboard. Their playlist includes such stalwarts as James
Taylor; Eagles; Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; Carole King;
Fleetwood Mac; Bonnie Raitt; Seals & Crofts; Elton John; Creedence
Clearwater Revival; and Carly Simon, to name but a few.

Only
Makebelieve The music of Only
Makebelieve is a very polished sound pulling from a style of
fullness seen in the 1960's and 70's (but with modern appeal).
Founding members Samuel Atkinson and Wyatt Michael started writing
music in the late 1980’s at a very young age. Later, experimenting
in several really bad recording studios, they recorded three small
demos and since developed a very strong songwriting style. They put
the experience to work and built their own recording studio. Over a
period of 5 years they recorded and produced their masterpiece debut
album called Message From A Mockingbird. Come and see Only
Makebelieve perform as an acoustic duo to promote this ambitious
release.

Gabe Wright.
Gabe’s music is
part electric, part acoustic. This young singer/songwriter, pop-rock
talent bring lots of vocal harmonies and a disregard for stylistic
boundaries. Gabe grew up in Lima, Ohio where he played in bands and
with friends and recorded a few CD's that are no longer available.
Gabe graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston and was the
frontman for a rock band and a metal band there, which played across
New England and New York City. Gabe spent several years songwriting
in Nashville and teaching at the National Guitar Summer Workshop.
We’re just glad he’s relocated to Cincinnati and we get to bring him
to you! Gabe’s most recent CDs are “If No One Knows My Name,” “I’m

The Sloes
are a progressive acoustic duo with a truly unique style, utilizing
mandolin, guitar, and tight harmonies. Their music draws inspiration
from folk, jazz, bluegrass, and rock influences. The core of the
group's strength lies in the songwriting skills of singer/guitarist
Rick Lisak. Rick is a 30-year veteran of the Cincy music scene,
garnering him chart success and industry recognition, and a broad
fanbase throughout the area. Onstage, Rick pours his soul into every
song, his positive energy and natural charisma captivating the
audience.Mandolinist Scott Carnder’s musical career began in the
early '90's. After studying jazz at UC's College Conservatory of
Music, he spent the remainder of the decade touring the country with
Cincy jamband The Spookfloaters, developing a loyal following along
the way. While subbing a gig in early 2000 Scott met Rick, and The
Sloes were born. Recruiting local percussionist Stan Ginn, the
group released their debut CD, "Desperate Train", in early 2006.
Featuring nine originals and a striking Rolling Stones cover, the
disc was named by Citybeat Magazine as one of the "Best of 2006".

Ryan Adcock in his premier
performance here!
Ryan’s a native Cincinnatian who been making quite a name for
himself across the nation and in several foreign countries! He’s a
favorite of ours and we couldn’t be happier that he’s finally taken
a short break from touring and running marathons and is here to
entertain you! He’s been voted “Best Rock Vocalist” and “Best
Singer-Songwriter” in Cincinnati. Whether you call it folk-rock,
indi-rock or rockin’ folk, Ryan pounds it out and tells a story –
funny, sad or soulful – his music hits the emotions, and creates the
excitement as only the great ones do. In 2002, Ryan made an
impressive debut on Mitch Albom’s nationally syndicated radio show,
playing to nearly 2.5 million listeners. He likes small coffee
shops, too! And he’s great in any venue. His debut CD, “From Silence
and Joy,” is a best-seller. If you missed him on the Acoustic Stage
at Summerfair, now’s you chance!
