Patrick Dwing and the Crick Gypsies
band playing and singing Americana “roots” music. In his 2008
review of Ewing's solo release "After This Cigarette", City Beat
Music Editor Mike Breen said: "Whether political or personal, Ewing
sings in a traditional format about our crazy, mixed-up modern world
in a way that listeners can easily identify with and latch on to.
That may be Ewing's greatest appeal — his songs are more like a wise
buddy talking to you at a bar, devoid of any didactic "I'm the
singer, you're the listener" separation." The Crick Gypsies played
MidPoint Music Festival 2008, Fountain Square, Southgate House,
Oakley After Hours and other Cincinnati gigs since forming in 2008.

Mark Alexander with Keith Bollmer
are both
Cincinnati natives and have been musical comrades for 30 years.
Mark's background is in Folk and Country Blues. Playing guitar,
dobro and clawhammer banjo, he plays with River City String Band and
on occasion with members of The Rabbit Hash String Band. Mark calls
his guitar style "Mountain Ragtime" borrowing and combining licks
from the likes of Mississippi John Hurt, Doc Watson and Sam
"Lightning" Hopkins. Keith has played in Rock and Blues bands but
his roots are in Jazz. You can hear the influence of Wes Montgomery
and Joe Pass in everything he plays, whether it be a Rockin' Blues,
a Jazz Standard or a country Ballad. Lately he has been playing
dates as a Pop/Jazz Duo with vocalist/ guitarist Nancy Lee. Mark and
Keith will be joined by Bassist Rob Kranz, also of the River City
String Band. Together, they will offer up a truly unusual mix of
American roots music. There will be songs from the front porches of
Appalachia, Jazz clubs of the big city and anywhere else they find a
great tune.

Bromwell Diehl Band is back! Bravo!
formed in the late '90s when songwriter Paul Bromwell asked vocalist
Elaine Diehl to sing a demo of a few of his new tunes. The pair
clicked immediately and invited Paul's drumming buddy, Mark Tipton,
to join them on percussion, and Jan Diehl to play bass and sax. BDB
has appeared at Seasongood Pavilion, Piatt Park, Borders Music and
Books, Allyn's The Barrelhouse, Summerfair, Jammin' on Main and the
Lilith Fair. The band was nominated for a Cincinnati Entertainment
Award in November, 2000.

Our own Tom and Missy Strothers are back!
Tom and Missy are mountain dulcimer players and teachers. Their
performances far and wide display their passion for music,
traditional sounds, plaintive melodies and a foot-tappin’ good time.
They are long-time members of Queen City Balladeers and recently
returned from a week at Kentucky Music Week festival. Tom and Missy
are community leaders in College Hill, always ready and willing to
put all their skills and talents to work for friends and neighbors.
We are thrilled they’re back at CHCC again.

Dinah Devoto and Pat Kennedy
Dinah Devoto has found the musical outlet that is closest to her
Owensboro roots – she’s tapped into something real – and that’s her
new partnership with Pat Kennedy and their acoustic Americana and
Bluegrass. Their commitment to music found them practicing together
more often and harmonizing like the “Nashville cats.” Pat brings a
strong Bluegrass repertoire, some John Prine, Leo Kotke and songs
pulled from a varied musical background. Pat learned some Gillian
Welch tunes and had Iris DeMent already under his belt. Dinah’s
learned some of Pat’s favorite Bluegrass tunes. She’ll belt out a
couple of acapella old time favorites and still keeps Patty Griffin
tunes close to her heart to share.

Wolfersberger (vocals, upright bass) and Brandt Smith (vocals,

mix of American Roots music, touching on Bluegrass, Country,
swinging Jazz, Modern Folk and Celtic music. Great energy, great
harmonies and great connection with an audience.
