Dear Friend,
We're back again this week with our 230th issue. Nothing special about that, but now that we think about it, we notice that we're coming up on the 5th anniversary of our first issue in June, 2005. Who'd have thought that it'd last this long?
Do you know something that your College Hill neighbors would find interesting? Send your stuff to eNewsletter@collegehilloh.net to make sure that at least one of your editors sees it. Send pictures if possible.
Every week, several people share a copy of the eNewsletter with someone else. You can do, by clicking here.

Support your local businesses by voting for these great College Hill candidates in City Beat's Annual Best of Cincinnati poll. Here's a College Hill candidate we're putting right up top: Amos Robinson is a
candidate in the Activist category. And what (or who) could be more
activist than tackling an escaping prisoner right in the Court House!?
(Yes, he did!) Plus, Amos is a regular Court Watch volunteer and a long-time
member of our award-winning Citizens on Patrol group.
Other College Hill or College Hill-related candidates that deserve your vote:
- College Hill Coffee Co. is listed under Best Coffeehouse and also under Best Breakfast.
-
Goodies is listed under Barbecue.
-
Bacall's is listed under Best Burger.
-

It's that time of year again! Register your children for
baseball (birth dates 5/1/02 through 4/20/94) or t-ball (5/1/03 through 4/30/05). The Cincinnati

Hospital's College Hill campus. Uniforms are included in the registration fee.
Cost for t-ball is $25 for the first child, and $20 each
additional child. Baseball begins at $35 for Coaches Pitch and increases by age
until it reaches $60 for Class AA ball. Girls are welcome to register. Again
this year, if you register your child
for spring SAY Soccer, you can register him or her to play t-ball for no
additional charge!

Local Entrepreneur "Greens" Texas
Resident Pam Menges, president and founder of a wind
power company, has signed a contract with a Texas railroad to provide high-
efficiency wind generators.
Star Sailor Energy, Inc. will assemble and install modular, stackable, vertical
wind generators (the company's specialty) at Trans-Texas Rail's new
"green" railyard at Elmendorf, TX, near San Antonio.
The multi-year project is designed as a pilot program for
heavy industry. Dr. Menges, a Fellow of the NASA Institute for Advanced
Concepts, hopes to demonstrate how the unique design of her company's
generators--which are propellor-free, can be installed on existing buildings,
and do not harm birds or bats--can be used for large commercial projects as
well as generating power for smaller uses such as electric signs, telemetry,
emergency power, and commercial lighting.
For more information about how the generators work,
including video of one in action, see the company's web page.

Sign Up Now for Produce Co-op
College Hill Farm Market vendor Bergefurd Farms will bring produce to CSA members at the market beginning
in May.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members receive a
selection of farm-raised fruit, melons, and vegetables to subscribers every

explains, you are guaranteed a weekly harvest share of the freshest produce
available.
Bergefurd Farms says, "Our CSA is different from
others in that, along with your weekly fresh picked produce, you also can sign
up to receive a supply of our farm fresh brown eggs. In addition, all CSA
members and their families receive a personal invitation to our farm's annual
CSA member family fun fall festival in October, and receive our CSA Friends
newsletter." In addition to updating you on farm activities, the
newsletter includes cooking and produce-handling tips.
The deadline to sign up for this opportunity to support
local farm families, local agriculture, and local communities is March 1st. To

Meet King Records Legend Philip Paul at CBTC Benefit
Performance
The Cincinnati Black Theater Company, headquartered in
College Hill, will present a special benefit performance of A Tribute to Motown
on March 12 at the Xavier University Gallagher Student Center Theater.
The new show is a "foot-tapping, finger-snapping
musical about the creation of the Motown Record Company and the Motown sound
that became the music of young America," says the company. It will feature
songs by the Marvalettes, the Vandellas, Gladys Knight and the Pips, the
Jackson Five, and other great Motown artists.
The March 12 benefit will begin at 6 pm with a catered
pre-show reception, and will honor the late Motown artists David Ruffin (lead
singer for the Temptations) and Mary Wells ("First Lady of Motown"), whose
families will be present on their behalf. It will also honor local legend and
King Records icon Philip Paul--now a spry octogenarian who still performs and
records. He will be there in person.
Tickets for this fundraiser (a portion of which will
benefit CBTC's 2010-11 Children's Performance Series) are $35.
The show then runs three times on March 13 (noon, 4 pm,
and 8 pm). Tickets are $20. For information or tickets, call
513-241-6060, or email Don Sherman at cbtcsherman@hotmail.com
CBTC's next show will be the CBTC Childrens Company
presentation of The Wiz, May 7th and 9th. |
Be a Twittering Citizen
If you Twitter, you now get updates from the City of
Cincinnati's Department of Public Services.
Earlier this winter, according to Larry Whitaker of
Public Services, the City began "tweeting" snow information and was
"encouraged by the initial response."
"I would like to announce the City Twitter Page, he says. "I
would recommend that our Twittering citizens follow CINCINNATISNOW" to
receive information on road conditions, road crew activities and other public
safety information.

The eNewsletter is published every week or so by the volunteers listed below. Our purpose is to help make College Hill an even better place to live, play and do business by publishing a broad spectrum of news for and about College Hill, with an emphasis on stories of College Hill people working together to improve our community.
The eNewsletter is independently prepared and published by neighborhood volunteers. It is not affiliated with the College Hill Forum Community Council.
Opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of any College Hill or other organization--or even of the editors. The inclusion of an article is not necessarily an endorsement. The fact that something isn't in the eNewsletter is not necessarily a lack of endorsement--it's most likely because no one told us about it.
eNewsletter photos are often edited to remove extraneous material.
Send us news that you think would be interesting to your College Hill neighbors--and we'll very likely publish it. Email to eNewsletter@CollegeHillOH.net.
